Designed and crafted by our master jeweler Brian Nava, this piece is participating in the 87th National Silversmithing Competition within the framework of the 2024 National Silver Fair in the jewelry category.
The Delicias necklace is made with 30 Cuetlaxochitl flowers. The silver finish on each of the elements that make up the necklace seeks to convey a feeling of purity and divinity. The stones that are mounted in the center of the flowers add color, warmth and shine.
Symmetry is a prominent feature that reflects harmony and balance. Below are some aspects that were taken into account for the design and elaboration of the piece.
Radial symmetry: The necklace presents radial symmetry, that is, the arrangement of the Cuetlaxochitl flowers and the precious stones are distributed in a balanced and symmetrical manner around a center.
Bilateral symmetry: Each Cuetlaxochitl flower is designed so that its shape and arrangement are symmetrical in relation to the central axis of the necklace.
Visual Balance: The arrangement of gemstones, such as citrine, ametrine and peridot, has been designed to create a visual balance that draws the eye to the center of the piece.
The Delicias necklace is a tribute to the cultural and artistic wealth of the city of Taxco. It combines the beauty of silver and stones to give prominence to the Cuetlaxochitl flower, a sacred flower that, according to pre-Hispanic tradition, grew in the gardens of the gods.
