Designed and crafted by our master jeweler Brandon Nava, this piece is participating in the 86th National Silversmithing Competition within the framework of the 2023 National Silver Fair in the jewelry category.
The "Flor que se witherita" bracelet, handmade in .970 silver, is inspired by the Cuetlaxochitl flower and is a tribute to the beauty and fragility of nature.
The intricate openwork of the bracelet, depicting the cobblestone streets of Taxco, adds a touch of authenticity and connection to the city. The openwork technique creates a transparent and light effect throughout the bracelet.
In Nahuatl, Cuetlaxochitl means “withering flower”, and the overall texture of the bracelet emulates the appearance of a withering flower, creating that visual and tactile sensation. The incorporation of soldered copper pieces adds a touch of color and contrast, highlighting the beauty of the silver.
The citrine set in the centre of the bracelet adds a flash of colour and sparkle, referencing the plant's flowers. The choice of this stone complements the plant's colour range in its natural state, blending perfectly with the silver and copper.
The bracelet, a symbol of the fragility and beauty of existence, honors the cultural tradition of Taxco, evokes emotions and invites us to contemplate the ephemeral beauty of life and the importance of appreciating every moment.
More than jewelry, it is art.
