Copilli

Copilli

Designed and crafted by our master jeweler Brian Nava, for the 2023 Jewelry Contest in the earring set category, within the framework of the 89th Silversmith's Day in the city of Taxco de Alarcón, Guerrero.

Copilli earrings are a tribute to our roots, a ceremonial adornment used by royalty and nobles in pre-Hispanic America, especially in the Aztec and Mayan cultures. They are an ornamental piece that was placed on the head or forehead, and was adorned with feathers, precious stones and other valuable materials.

The Copilli symbolized the power, wealth and spirituality of the person who wore it. It was a symbol of status and authority, and was used in important rituals and ceremonies.

The earrings are a modern reinterpretation, they stand out for their minimalist design and the careful selection of stones. The golden section was taken into account when designing the pieces that make up each earring, which is used to create compositions with balanced and aesthetic designs.

Aquamarine, citrine and green tourmaline add a touch of colour and shine that enhances the beauty of silver. They are mounted in a pavé setting, a jewellery technique that consists of embedding small precious or semi-precious stones in a metal surface, creating a "pavement" or "path" effect of stones, hence the name of this technique.

Copilli earrings are a piece that combines the cultural richness of pre-Hispanic royalty with the elegance and sophistication of contemporary design. They are a jewel that seeks to be unique and meaningful, reflecting personality and style.

More than jewelry, it is art.
